Disney cancellation giving you the blues? Bring the magic home with these fun ideas!
Puzzles - There are so many prints out there to choose from and I have found the best options on eBay! You can even visit sites like zazzle.com to create your own personalized puzzle. We chose a favorite snapshot from Epcot. Giant floor puzzles are a great for the littles and 2000+ for the grown up challenges are an excellent way to pass the time.
Recreate Disney Parks Magic - A favorite parks activity for us is attending The Animation Experience, currently held at Rafiki's Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom, formerly a similar experience known as the Animation Academy at Hollywood Studios. You can find almost every character imaginable in recorded classes on YouTube. This has been a ton of fun!
Speaking of YouTube - POV ride videos are a great activity for the kiddos to "ride" their favorite rides. Bonus points for improvising their ride vehicle. Laundry baskets work great! You can also experience your favorite fireworks shows, parades and other Disney entertainment like this. It's not quite the same as being there, but it can certainly cheer you up!
Disney Scents - Etsy is full of various shops selling our favorite familar scents, but I especially love www.magiccandlecompany.com - The Polynesian and Banshee take me right back to the magic! My husband loves the Pirates scent and Walt's Office is a surprisingly perfect scent for the car, giving a bit of a leather hint.
Disney Recipes - Aside from the many official cookbooks that you can find on Amazon or Ebay (great prices!), we've had alot of fun searching Pinterest for our favorite Disney treats to recreate them.
Board Games - Almost every major game has a Disney version (which is somehow more fun), but have you tried Villainous? It's pretty cool. Each player chooses a villain with a different mission. Strategize how to achive your own mission the fastest, while slowing down other players on their missions. Warning: It requires alot of focus and super competitive families may butt heads. ;)
Scrapbooking - Years ago, I started an Adventure Book scrapbook like Ellie makes for Carl in Up!, but as time went on, I ended up with a few years of printed photos and supplies, but pages that still needed to be filled. This is the perfect time to catch up!
Bedtime Hotline - I mean really, Thank You Disney for thinking of everything. Call 1-877-7-MICKEY, and your kiddo can be sent off to sleep by their favorites of the Fab 5!
Disney+ - When all else fails, nothing passes the time quite like a cuddly blanket and binging on some comforting Disney movies. Rewatch the Star Wars series, relive your childhood and be sure to check out the Imagineering series. You just can't go wrong with nothing but Disney content. I should also give honorable mention to all the Disney Junior series' that have helped give a place for our toddler to escape to!
Crafting - I've researched a few Minnie ear tutorials on YouTube that gave me the confidence to tackle a fun craft project - build my own Minnie Ears! This is going to be a super fun one to spend some time on. You can find many different approaches to this and can choose one based on the supplies you can find around the house!
Plan your next trip - We will eventually get back to normal and the parks will be open again. This is the perfect time to plan every detail to be extra magical - Choosing a resort, booking restaurants (or making your wish list) and planning out how to visit parks is almost as much fun as your actual Disney vaca!
